About Me

Growing up on Long Island, I was very much into sports. I played baseball, basketball, soccer, football, and ultimate frisbee. If I wasn’t playing sports, I watched them, and if I wasn’t watching, I was talking about them. I couldn’t get enough. Naturally, I thought I would be a professional athlete one day, smashing home runs in a Mets jersey or catching touchdowns for the New York Football Giants, or both. I was an optimistic kid. However, sometime in high school, it hit me that I did not possess the size or talent to hang with the best of the best. So I turned to my next favorite thing; writing and making videos.

After high school, where I was the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, I attended Ohio University in Athens, majoring in journalism with specializations in political science and film. In college, I worked at the local PBS and NPR affiliate station: WOUB Public Media. Moving my way up from volunteer, in my junior year, I produced the 18th season of Gridiron Glory, a live, weekly television show about high school football in southeastern Ohio. The show featured highlights, analysis, and in-studio interviews. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recognized our work that season, awarding us a Student Production Emmy for Best Sports Program.

In addition to WOUB, I wrote for The Post, a student-run newspaper on Ohio University’s campus, covering crime and local government.

On top of my journalistic activities, I was also a cast member and creative director for Black Sheep Improv, the university’s improv team, and worked with the alumni association.

During my senior year, I interned with CBS News in Washington D.C., covering the United States Congress as part of the Capitol Hill team. I logged committee hearings and press conferences, took notes of floor proceedings, shot b-roll and interviewed Congress members, including Senators Lindsey Graham, Kirsten Gillibrand, Susan Collins, Richard Blumenthal, John Cornyn and Mark Warner. Some high-profile stories I covered were the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the investigations into Russian interference, and the sexual misconduct allegations against former Senator Al Franken and former Members of Congress Blake Farenthold and John Conyers.

Following graduation, I accepted my first journalism job at North Shore Media Group as a general assignment reporter, writing for a string of local newspapers on Long Island. I covered politics, education, local business, sports and the environment. I wrote five to seven articles a week, ranging from short breaking news stories to long-form features. I also took photos for the paper and assisted in the copyediting process.
